MAMAMOO's
Whee In has come under fire for cursing during a 'V' chat with her fans.
She recently posted a 'V' app broadcast with the title 'Mother Pumpkin Let's Get It'. 'Mother pumpkin' is the Korean way of jokingly writing the curse 'motherf*cking' because they sound similar in Korean.
She had gotten a little tipsy and started a live chat with her fans, where she got a little too comfortable. She used harsh wording, but many fans found it problematic that she had just outright cursed. She repeated the phrase "mother pumpkin", and then directly said "f*ck that sh*t" and"f*ck that" multiple times.
Netizens, and even many fans, were shocked at her behavior, especially since the 'V' channel is for fans of all ages. She ended up apologizing once the situation spread. She wrote,
Hello, this is Whee In.
I'm sorry that I'm writing something like this so late at night. It was a fun weekend, so I was wondering what our fans were up to and wanted to communicate with the fans. I had a chat session and live broadcast through 'V Channel Plus', and I ended up making errors. I want to say I'm sorry.
It's my fault for not understanding what the words completely meant.
Also, even though I am an adult, I thought too easily about showing myself drinking to a platform where underage fans are because of our recent 'Drinking Song MAMOO'.
I'm sorry to the fans who were disappointed by my actions, and I came to write despite the late time.
I'll work hard to become a Whee In that will think more and be more careful.
I'm so sorry.
What do you think about the situation?
