[Song & MV Review] DAY6 -- 'Dance Dance'

AKP STAFF
DAY6

DAY6 – Every DAY6 May 'DANCE DANCE'

Track List:

1. DANCE DANCE
2. Man in a movie

DAY6 exploded onto the scene in 2015 with a hard rock sound and tongue in cheek sensibility. Their first title track, "Congratulations," gave them a quick taste of success. They're back again, this time with their May single 'DANCE DANCE.'

"DANCE DANCE" is a kickin' hard rock track. With two guitarists and a bassist, this band can make a lot of noise. This is actually one of their more energetic efforts, better than I've heard in awhile. There's a deliberate playfulness to Jae's raps (naturally), and the hook "I feel good and I feel great" is fantastic. It is just the kind of thing to get your blood flowing and your head banging. There's no deep meaning here -- it's just about enjoying your day.

"Man in a movie" is a little slower, and there's some heavy bass over an insistent piano riff at the start. It soon gives way to more production and some nice harmonies in the chorus. I like the staccato nature of the instrumentation -- it keeps it from being bog-standard and elevates it above the standard soft pop formula. There are some time and melody changes, but they meld them all seamlessly.

If you're looking for an upbeat couple of tunes, then look no further. If you're looking for a sonic assault on your eardrums, they've got you covered too. The second tune is there if you're ready to come down from the first, and want a smoother landing. Listening to this disc is a great way to spend a few minutes, and you might just want to spend a few minutes more.

MV REVIEW

Frankly, there's not much to review. It's a studio video, with the boys set up in front of microphones and instruments and doing their thing. It's also in living, vibrant black and white. There are occasional cuts of behind-the-scenes type things, showing them writing songs or fooling around, but I'm not so sure these aren't staged. The lackluster production was propped up by the song, which is a great tune to get you pumped.

It's not bad, but it's not great, either. I do have to admit that shots of them fooling around helps a little. But there's nothing here that really establishes that they are, in fact, DAY6. Other than their physical features being different, they could easily be replaced by other bands that do the same thing.

Don't get me wrong, I don't need amazing multi-billion won mini-epics or something like that, it's just that I expect more from an MV. It's a little cheap, and I would have preferred something to separate it out. Maybe have a weird shot with teddy bears dressed like them or something. I enjoyed the MV for "I'm Serious" a lot more. Maybe I'm jaded, but the MV was just mediocre.

My first introduction to Korean pop was “Dance Dance” which I would say is one of the finest songs of the last decade. Since then, I always eager to learn what is the new song that would be offered by this Korean brand. I am so addicted to their songs that even sometimes I have to visit writeessaysonline.com/is-edubirdie-legit-three-different-perspectives website to read reviews about the website to write essaysso that I can enjoy the songs more independently.
