RUI recently sat down with media outlet Tenasia for an exclusive interview.
Q. Have you ever watched 'Idol Star'?
It's such a lively atmosphere and I get nervous on set so I don't know what's going on half of the time. But yesterday I watched the show and it brought back memories, making me cry.
Q. Were you confident in winning first place?
I prepared for 'Idol Star' two months prior. However, I injured my ankle just one week before the competition. So I wasn't able to practice as much. Luckily, the results turned out well, and I cried when I won gold thinking about how challenging it was.
Q. Does your mother in Japan know about the news?
Fortunately, I was able to tell her. She was very proud of me. She only knows a little bit of Korean but she took the time to read articles about me. She must be very happy.
Q. Apart from 'Idol Star', do you work out on a daily basis?
I used to play basketball in junior high school so I like to exercise. I usually go on bike rides and go to the gym.
Q. H.U.B is debuting on February 9, you must be excited?
2017 appears to be a good start so far. With winning gold this season, all of our members are looking forward to a good year. I like how H.U.B consists of members who can come up with good vocals/rap and dance moves so please support us and look forward to our works.
Netizens commented, "RUI is amazing!", "If she made in with an ankle injury, she'll probably go for 8 seconds next time," "Wish you all the best of luck this year, RUI!"
