Actor Ahn Jae Hyun attended the press conference for his first ever drama in which he plays the main lead, KBS 2TV's 'Blood', at the Seoul Virgin Mary Hospital on February 11. As he normally plays secondary leads, he expressed his anxiety and the burden he felt for his first ever big role.
He said, "I feel greatly burdened for landing a main role within a year since my debut. Because of this burden, my neck circumference shrank 6 cm (~ 2.4 inches). I lost a lot of weight."
However, Ahn Jae Hyun proved that he was also very excited for the role, saying, "Besides feeling a burden, I approached it with different, heart-fluttering feelings. I am thinking a lot about how to settle that excitement. Of course I would say 'I will work hard,' so I think I need to leap over 'working hard' to 'doing well.'"
He then talked about his character, Park Ji Sang, a vampire doctor. Ahn Jae Hyun said, "Jae Sang is a doctor prodigy. He's someone who tries to do only what he wants to do. The most important part is that he's a vampire. He has no weaknesses, but he does have an appetite for blood. I'm trying to express the character with emphasis on his feelings when he's trying to control himself and when he sees people dying. I want to show his human side moreso than his cold side. Ji Sang lost his mother at a young age, so there's a part of him you want to protect. I will show those emotional sides through this character."
You can see it for yourself once the drama starts airing on February 16!
