The first trial for Lee Byung Hun's blackmail case against GLAM's Dahee and model Lee Ji Yeon took place on October 16 at the Seoul Central District Court.
The two women were put on trial on the charges of blackmail and "psychological violence." Lee Ji Yeon's lawyer stated that it was true that they did request 5 billion KRW (~$4.7 million USD) from Lee Byung Hun, but they didn't premeditate making threats or blackmailing the actor. The lawyer also asserted that there was skinship between the actor and model, and Lee Byung Hun offered to buy her a house if they took the relationship further sexually. When she rejected his offer, he sent her a message ending the relationship.
Dahee's attorney suggested that the idol wasn't aware of the full extent of the exchange. He stated, "As Dahee is very close to Lee Ji Yeon, she felt that Lee Ji Yeon had been manipulated. She thought that if Lee Ji Yeon offered the video to a media outlet, she could receive money. She thought that the money the media outlet offered would be the same as what the actor would give, so they requested 5 billion KRW. Dahee was under the wrong impression that this was a normal transaction."
Lee Byung Hun's agency BH Entertainment has also come forward to address the allegations from Lee Ji Yeon's side: "To put it simply, her allegations are not worth replying to. As expected, the judge drew the line and said it was a one-sided argument. You'll find out from the results of the trial."
For the second trial, which is scheduled to take place on November 11, Lee Byung Hun's side has requested a witness who introduced the actor to Lee Ji Yeon.
