Psy revealed he was a bit disappointed like the rest of us when his previous hit single "Gangnam Style" became stuck at #2 and never reached #1 on Billboard's 'Hot 100' chart.
On MBC FM4U's 'Bae Chul Soo's Music Camp', Psy featured as a guest and was asked the tough question, "Do you think your new single ['Gentleman'] will reach #1 on Billboards' 'Hot 100'?"
Psy replied, "Billboard has started to count view counts on YouTube starting this year. Although my iTunes ranking dropped a bit, my view count [YouTube] is good so I hope it happens. During my 'Gangnam Style' promotions last year, I was #2 on the chart for seven consecutive weeks so I became frustrated. I though to myself, 'Ah... I'm getting frustrated when I've ranked #2?' and laughed really hard at myself. I should go back to the States and promote even harder."
Psy's new single "Gentleman" recently debuted on the 'Hot 100' at #12 prior to Psy starting his promotions in the U.S. The "Gentleman" MV has also already achieved over 200 million views on YouTube in just nine days.
Do you think "Gentleman" will surpass the success of "Gangnam Style" to reach #1?
