Girls Generation's Hyoyeon was embarrassed in a spelling battle, against an elementary school student on the July 21st broadcast of 'Invincible Youth 2'. On this week's episode, Hyoyeon and the other 'Invincible Youth 2' members tried out an Invincible Youth Guest House concept, by inviting guests from the public and creating special memories with them.
On this day, Hyoyeon and the elementary school boy were given a whiteboard by MC Boom, and then they were instructed to write down the phrase 'chased after'. The elementary student correctly adhered to proper Korean spelling rules and wrote down the correct form of 'chased after', with the help of his father, whereas Hyoyeon wrote an incorrect version. The version Hyoyeon used was used in the Korean language pre-1988 era.
Hyoyeon explained cutely that she wrote the phrase the old way, because their 'Invincible Youth 2' house mom, Lee Young Ja, always wrote it that way. Lee Young Ja explained in good humor that it was because she "didn't graduate from elementary school", keeping the fun vibe alive for the viewers and the guests.
Thanks to Hyoyeon's cute mistake, the elementary school boy was happily rewarded with the game winning prize, a brand new toy.
