Athena promises to handle North-South Korean relations realistically

The production representative of SBS's new drama, "Athena: Goddess of War", Jung Tae Won, stated that the drama would portray the tense North-South Korean relationship realistically. Jung met with reporters at the press conference for "Athena" at the Seoul Gwangjangdong Walker Hotel at 11 AM on November 30th. "Athena" is a spin-off of one of 2009's biggest dramas, "Iris", and it was filmed internationally to realistically portray the lives of secret agents traveling across the world. Kim Min Jong plays a North Korean secret agent, Kim Ki Soo, and installing a character like this may be a burdensome, sensitive topic with North Korea's recent attack at Yeonpyeong Island. To this issue, Jung stated, "We're planning on reflecting the recent mood. We will portray the North Korea-South Korea relationship realistically for the viewers." He continued, "Wouldn't it be weird to tell a story of peace when North-South relations are so sensitive? We don't know how it will suddenly change, but we will pore over it up to the airing date in order to reflect the current atmosphere. This kind of atmosphere will become evident in the scene in which Kim Seung Woo appears." Meanwhile, "Athena", which will star Jung Woo Sung, Cha Seung Won, Soo Ae, Lee Ji Ah, Choi Siwon, and other top stars, will replace "Giant" and air its first episode on December 13th.
