The production representative of SBS's new drama, "Athena: Goddess of War", Jung Tae Won, stated that the drama would portray the tense North-South Korean relationship realistically. "Athena" is a spin-off of one of 2009's biggest dramas, "Iris", and it was filmed internationally to realistically portray the lives of secret agents traveling across the world. Kim Min Jong plays a North Korean secret agent, Kim Ki Soo, and installing a character like this may be a burdensome, sensitive topic with North Korea's recent attack at Yeonpyeong Island. To this issue, Jung stated, "We're planning on reflecting the recent mood. We will portray the North Korea-South Korea relationship realistically for the viewers."
