It was revealed that Korea's Olympic figure skating gold medalist, Kim Yuna had suffered an ankle injury, just one month prior to the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games! The 19 year old girl might have set new world record scores in capturing the figure skating gold medal a few days earlier, but it was nearly not to be had emergency measures not be taken. She revealed in an exclusive interview with SBS News on the 27th that she had sustained an injury to her left ankle, one month prior to the start of the Winter Olympics. She thought that her swollen left ankle might have been a result of her constant hard training and exhaustion which led to the injury. But after diagnosis, it was revealed that her new skates didn't fit her. A change was immediately effected while intensive treatment was applied to treat the injured ankle. And fortunately for Kim Yuna, the pain soon subsided and the rest is history. Having revealed this, it's more remarkable to fans that she has captured the figure skating gold with record scores, despite the immense weight of expectations placed on her shoulders and the fear of aggravating her injury. Kim Yuna, truly the queen of the ice skating rink!
