On January 15, Wonder Girls leader (& sweetheart) Sunye left a message on her Twitter that has gained the attention of many fans. In her tweet, the singer briefly urged others to reach out and help the earthquake victims of the recent Haiti catastrophe. As you readers have undoubtedly heard, the country of Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 on Tuesday, January 12 - reportedly the most drastic earthquake that Haiti has experienced in over two hundred years. The quake was followed by at least thirty-three aftershocks, including fourteen that charted a magnitude between 5.0 and 5.9; reports indicate that these are expected to continue for the next two weeks. Countless hospitals, national landmarks and major infrastructure were destroyed, affecting over three million people. The widespread crisis has killed at least 50,000 victims, but the death toll will possibly rack up to over 200,000 as the situation progresses. This disaster is so catastrophic that even the United Nations has declared it the worst disaster that they have ever faced. To join the relief effort, check out allkpop's Haiti Challenge over at the forums for a list of various methods to reach out to the earthquake victims. You can donate with something as simple as a text message - even a few dollars can make a big difference.
