ChoA reveals her thoughts on marriage and freezing her eggs

AKP STAFF

ChoA revealed her thoughts on marriage and freezing her eggs.

On February 17, ChoA opened up about topics she hasn't talked to her fans about on her latest YouTube channel video. She expressed, "I'm not against getting married, and it's not that I don't want a child either. I just don't have the confidence that I'll be able to live a good married life, raise a child, and have a good work life. I took a 3-year hiatus, so I feel like I should work now as well."

She also said about freezing her eggs, "I felt that if I did freeze my eggs, I wouldn't have to follow society's expectations about time because of biological limitations. You can get married at any time, but you can only have a child when it's biologically possible."

Check out ChoA's latest YouTube video above.

This speaks a lot about Asian societies and the falling birth rates in them. Let's get one thing straight that Korea and the rest of Asia are still very much a patriarchal society where men are expected to be "head of household". Women who work and want to pursue a career are expected to drop all that once they have children. This may have been fantastic two hundred years ago, but times have changed and women now have to face a real key decision about their lives; do they become mothers or do they put their careers first. There is a growing trend in Japan, Korea, and the rest of Asia amongst women that marriage and children are simply not worth it at the end if they have to give up their sense of self. Unless these countries do... A LOT MORE to ensure that a women can go back to their career, not get passed up for promotion, and still be a mother these countries will continue to face declining birth rates.
