Ha Sung Woon’s special fan event has been canceled after strong opposition from fans.

On March 5th KST, Big Planet Made Entertainment announced through Ha Sung Woon’s official account, “The special fan event scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd has been canceled in response to fans’ feedback.”

The agency continued, “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Those who purchased albums to participate in the event will be able to receive refunds through the respective purchase platforms.”

They concluded, “Once again, we apologize for disappointing the fans. We will strive to do better moving forward. Thank you.”

On March 4th, the agency had announced a birthday event for Ha Sung-woon. Fans who purchased his eighth mini-album ‘Blessed’, released in July 2023, could enter a lottery to attend the photo session + birthday party event on March 22nd. However, only 50 winners would be selected.

The announcement was met with disappointment and frustration from fans. Criticism mainly centered around the lackluster nature of the event and the requirement to purchase an album that had been released months earlier.

Some fans commented:

“I’ve seen idols do live broadcasts or charity donations for their birthdays, but a fan signing event? That’s a first.”

“Inviting only 50 people for a birthday party? That sounds less like an idol event and more like an extroverted kid’s birthday party.”

“It feels like they just wanted to avoid the hassle of properly organizing an event.”

“Fan sign events are basically a ranking system where money determines participation. Why do this now, when boosting sales isn’t even a priority?”

The backlash escalated into organized protests. Some fans planned truck demonstrations with banners stating “An exclusive fan sign event that only benefits a select few while most fans are left out—BPM’s way of mistreating fans.” Others launched mass hashtag campaigns demanding the event be canceled.

Ha Sung Woon debuted in 2014 as a member of HOTSHOT. He later gained widespread popularity through Mnet’s ‘Produce 101 Season 2’, where he debuted as part of Wanna One. In 2019, he transitioned to a solo career. After completing his military service in April 2023, he resumed activities.
