NewJeans has announced they would be halting activities as a sign they are unwilling to work with ADOR.
The girls made the sudden announcement during their performance at the ComplexCon in Hong Kong. Following their new song performance, the members announced, “Today may be our last stage for a while,” stating that they had decided to "pause activities out of respect for the court's decision." However, media reports said the girls' decision to suspend activities was without the consent of ADOR.
ADOR, which has been engaged in a legal battle with the group, expressed regret over the unilateral decision, stating, “We are deeply saddened by their abrupt announcement of a hiatus. We hope to meet with them as soon as possible to discuss the future.”
The main lawsuit over the validity of their exclusive contracts is set to hold its first hearing on April 3. Yonhap News talked to several legal experts, and if both sides remain firmly opposed, they predicted it could take at least three years for a final ruling to be made.
