At the 'Korean Music Awards,' a diverse range of talent was celebrated across major, genre-specific, and special categories. In the Major Awards, Danpyunsun and the Moments Ensemble clinched Album of the Year, while aespa’s 'Supernova' earned Song of the Year. Lee Seung Yoon was honored as Musician of the Year for his work on 'Anthems of Defiance,' and Sanmanhan was recognized as Rookie of the Year.
The genre-specific categories showcased a rich variety of musical styles. In rock, Soumbalgwang’s 'Fire & Light' won Best Rock Album and Lee Seung Yoon’s 'Anthems of Defiance' was named Best Rock Song. Danpyunsun and the Moments Ensemble continued their success with 'Hail to the Music,' taking home Best Modern Rock Album, while Lee Seung Yoon’s 'Waterfall' was awarded Best Modern Rock Song. Seaweed Mustache earned the title of Best Metal & Hardcore Album.
In pop, John Park’s 'PSST!' was recognized as Best Pop Album and BIBI’s 'Bam Yang Gang' as Best Pop Song, while aespa dominated the K-pop field with their album 'Armageddon' and song 'Supernova,' which together received the Best K-pop Album & Song honors.
Electronic music was celebrated with NET GALA’s album winning Best Electronic Album and 'Mount XLR' being named Best Electronic Song. In the rap and hip-hop categories, B-Free and Hukky Shibaseki were awarded Best Rap & Hip-Hop Album, and G-Dragon’s 'POWER' claimed Best Rap & Hip-Hop Song. For R&B and soul, the duo SUMIN and Slom received Best R&B & Soul Album, while Jung In and Mild Beats’ 'Blame' won Best R&B & Soul Song. Folk music honors went to Moher’s 'Kaleidoscope' for Best Folk Album and Kang A Sol’s 'Anyone But Me' for Best Folk Song. In the jazz categories, Nam Yeji’s 'Old Songs, Tmmm' was recognized as Best Jazz & Vocal Album, and the Jihye Lee Orchestra earned Best Jazz Instrumental Album. Finally, BANDO’s 'Shape of the Land' was honored as Best Global Contemporary Album.
Special awards were also presented, with Lee Ho Joon receiving the Contribution Award for his significant impact on the industry, and Live Club Day being bestowed the Committee’s Special Award for their role in championing live performance culture.
