Actor Park Jung Min has stepped up to support the visually impaired.
On February 11th(KST), the Korea Disabled People's Foundation announced, "Park Jung Min and Lee Se Hwa, CEO of Eolreongdungddang Store (also known as 'Calm Man’s sister'), have donated 10 million KRW(approximately $6,881.60 USD) for the production of audiobooks for the visually impaired."
The donation comes from the proceeds of merchandise sales. Lee Se Hwa shared, "While creating merchandise with Park Jung Min, we wanted to use the profits to bring about positive change."
She further explained, "After discussing with Park Jung Min, we decided to contribute toward improving book accessibility for the visually impaired. It was meaningful to see so many people join us in this initiative."
A representative from the foundation added, "Park Jung Min has continuously supported efforts to make books and films accessible to all. We also extend our gratitude to those who purchased the merchandise."
Park Jung Min has long been dedicated to charitable causes. He has actively participated in audiobook narration for the visually impaired, contributed to magazines supporting the homeless, and provided narration for barrier-free films.
In 2023, he even rented an entire theater at his own expense to host a special screening of ‘Smugglers’ for visually impaired audiences and their guardians, inviting around 100 attendees.
Currently, Park Jung Min stars in the Coupang Play series ‘Newtopia,’ where he plays a soldier named Jae Yoon, struggling to reunite with his long-distance girlfriend, Young Joo (played by Ji Soo), in a zombie-infested Seoul.
