On the latest episode of ‘Omniscient Interfering View’, singer-songwriter group Urban Zakapa was featured preparing for their concert, during which, member Kwon Sun Il reminisces about his past as an SM Entertainment trainee.
Kwon Sun Il mentions that he made it to the final round of the youth auditions of SM Entertainment, in the same year where TVXQ’s Yunho won for the dance category and Super Junior’s Sungmin won for the looks category. He elaborates that he entered SM Entertainment as a trainee in 2001, and he trained with current members of TVXQ, Super Junior, and Girls’ Generation.
Upon MC Jun Hyun Moo asking about the possibility of debuting in an SM idol group, Kwon Sun Il replies that it could have been likely based on the timing, to which, fellow Urban Zakapa member Park Yong In then jokingly interjects that Kwon would have probably debuted in a separate group.
Member Jo Hyun Ah also mentions that their 2016 song “I Don’t Love You” becoming a hit really got to member Kwon Sun Il’s head, and Kwon responds that the song still rakes in great profit now, nine years after release. The mega-hit, which has a music video featuring actor Yoo Seung Ho, is written and composed fully by Kwon Sun Il.
