SM Entertainment has recently introduced SMTR25, a group of 25 male trainees, during the agency’s 30th-anniversary concert, ‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025 [THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE],’ held over this past weekend at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome. The trainees took to the stage with electrifying performances of EXO’s “Growl” and SHINee’s “Lucifer,” immediately capturing the audience’s attention with their impressive visuals, dance skills, and strong stage presence.

SM Entertainment is always known for their impressive visuals, and the new lineup of male trainees is no exception either. Their performances at the anniversary concert left a lasting impression, with many of the trainees quickly going viral for their striking looks and the fascinating backgrounds.

CHIO

One trainee has become the talk of the town after it was revealed that he is the nephew of the executive director at Shinsegae, one of the largest department store conglomerates in South Korea. Netizens are calling him Chio, and he is said to be a Korean born in California. His background, coupled with his standout appearance, has made him a topic of interest among both K-pop fans and the media.

DAIGO

Daigo, one of the trainees of SMTR25, is drawing attention for being a former member of the K-pop boy group TO1, who was also a contestant on ‘Produce 101 Japan Season 2.’ With his refined talent and prior experience, Daigo is being seen as a strong contender for the upcoming boy group debut, with fans eager to see how he will evolve within SM’s training system.

HARU

One trainee, rumoured to be named Haru, has attracted fans for his striking ‘SM Style’ visuals. His facial features and overall appearance have drawn comparisons to other SM idols, with fans quickly dubbing him the embodiment of the agency’s signature “SM Style” face, known for its perfect blend of elegance and charisma.

TATA

Tata Jiranchai Sereeviriyakun, a SMTR25 trainee from Thailand, has become a topic of discussion among international K-pop fans. Previously a trainee under GMM Music, a record label under GMM Grammy Public Company Limited, the largest conglomerate entertainment company in Thailand, he brings international experience to the table.

JJ

Another trainee generating buzz is JJ, a Japanese-American who was previously part of Trainee A, BigHit Music’s pre-debut boy group. Trainee A’s debut was ultimately canceled, and JJ has found a new home at SM Entertainment. Fans who were familiar with his earlier journey are excited to see how his talent will be nurtured under SM’s renowned training system.

HANBI, SONGHA, and HYEONJUN

Three members from Korea, reportedly named Hanbi, Songha, and Hyeonjun, became the most talked-about trainees on various social media platforms following their performance on SMTOWN LIVE 2025. In particular, Hanbi and Hyeonjun went viral as the blue-haired and the pink-haired boys.

With SM Entertainment set to launch a new boy group in the second half of 2025, many are speculating to see trainees of SMTR25 in the final lineup. The buzz surrounding these trainees is a clear indication of the high expectations fans have for the upcoming SM boy group.
