SBS’s popular variety show 'Whenever Possible' (directed by Choi Bo Pil, and written by Chae Jin Ah) is gearing up for its comeback with a brand-new season in May.
According to an exclusive report from Star News on January 22, the production team has begun preparations for the new season following the success of Season 2, which wrapped up with record-breaking ratings.
'Whenever Possible' is a unique variety show that brings joy and luck into brief moments of everyday life. Hosted by Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok, the program features special guest stars, affectionately called 'Gap Friends,' who join the MCs in meeting clients, known as 'Gap Owners.' Together, they engage in conversations and games that deliver laughter and heartwarming moments to viewers.
The show first aired as a pilot in April last year, earning immediate acclaim by topping the 2049 viewership ratings for its time slot (according to Nielsen Korea). When it returned as a regular program in October, Whenever Possible continued to capture attention with an impressive lineup of star guests, including Park Shin Hye, Lee Seo Jin, Kim Nam Gil, Lee Hanee, Chae Soo Bin, and vocal duo Davichi.
The season finale, which aired on January 21, featured singer Kim Jong Kook and actor Cha Tae Hyun as guests. It achieved a 4.4% viewership rating in the Seoul metropolitan area—the highest for the season—and set a new record in the 2049 demographic with a 1.9% rating, solidifying the show’s widespread appeal.
During the finale, Yoo Jae Suk thanked viewers, saying, “I deeply appreciate everyone who allowed us to share these small moments with you. We’ll be back to greet you again when it’s warmer.” True to his words, 'Whenever Possible' is expected to make its highly anticipated return in May, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok are set to reprise their roles as hosts, and all eyes are on how the upgraded version of 'Whenever Possible' will deliver even more laughter and entertainment in its upcoming season.
