Recently, former Wanna One member Lai Kuan Lin was spotted attending an exchange event hosted by Taiwan's Presidential Office.
He participated in the event as a representative of Taiwan’s cultural sector, garnering significant attention as he was seen seated among prominent political figures, including the director of the State Council Taiwan Affairs, Song Tao, and several other politicians.
Lai Kuan Lin rose to fame in 2017 after finishing in 7th place on Mnet’s 'Produce 101 Season 2,' debuting as a member of the group Wanna One.
Despite being a project-based group, Wanna One released several hit songs, including “Energetic,” “Boomerang,” “Burn It Up,” and “Light,” and achieved immense popularity. They managed to build a powerful fandom and generate widespread buzz that could rival top male idol groups like BTS and Seventeen.
Due to this popularity, even after the group disbanded in 2019, many K-pop fans continued to hope for their reunion.
After his time with Wanna One, Lai Kuan Lin returned to his original agency, Cube Entertainment. However, in 2019, he engaged in a legal dispute to terminate his exclusive contract. He ultimately won the lawsuit, confirming the invalidity of his contract, and subsequently began solo activities in Chinese-speaking regions.
In 2019, Lai Kuan Lin became embroiled in controversy when he publicly supported the Hong Kong police during the Hong Kong democracy protests and participated in China’s National Day celebrations.
Later, in 2021, he transitioned into film directing, releasing the short film 'Em Chu Em Nie Zi Bo (Winter & Spring are Fighting).' However, in June of that year, he unexpectedly announced his official retirement from the entertainment industry.
He stated, "After much consideration, I decided to change my career path," and entrusted the management of his official account to his staff.
