Fans have come to the defense of BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars following accusations of lip-syncing during their performance at the '2024 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards).'
The criticism arose after fans learned the performance was a pre-recorded live set, rather than being performed live on stage, leaving some disappointed. Additionally, a few viewers alleged that the artists’ lip movements didn’t align perfectly with the audio, fueling suspicions of lip-syncing.
In response, one fan took it upon themselves to debunk the claims by creating a video that removed the master recording (MR) sound and isolated only the vocals and drum tracks.
Another fan posted the video with the comment, "Originally, since it was a live band session, removing the MR doesn’t even make sense. But for those who were so passionately commenting everywhere claiming it was lip-syncing, I'm leaving this here."
Other fans also joined the community where the video was posted and shared their thoughts on this matter. They commented:
"Wow, I always knew Bruno Mars was good but Rosé is amazing."
"I guess people could accuse her of lip-syncing because so many 4th generation idols pre-record their performances now."
"Bruno Mars' voice is so heavenly."
"They had ad-libs; of course, it's not lip-syncing."
"This was a live band playing so how can you remove the MR?"
"It's so fascinating how you can't hear their breathing even though they're jumping like that while singing."
"This is the first time I heard Bruno Mars being accused of lip-syncing."
"You can see their lips do match the music. Now sure what these people are saying."
"It's so hilarious people are accusing Bruno Mars of lip-syncing."
"Rosé changed the key at the end. How can you lip-sync that?"
"Since there are accusations that they lip-synced, I guess they need to do another live performance."
"I liked this live performance better."
"They were just too good. That's why they are being accused. lol."
"Why would these two artists need to lip-sync?"
"It's because Rosé is so good at singing."
