It was confirmed on October 7 that former NCT member Moon Taeil has been under police investigation for aggravated quasi-rape following allegations of sexual assault.
According to the reports, Taeil was questioned by the Seoul Bangbae Police Station and was transferred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 12th of last month. As of now, the prosecution has not yet summoned Taeil for further questioning.
It was revealed that Taeil was sued in June for allegedly sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman along with two acquaintances. He was summoned for questioning on August 28, two months after the lawsuit was filed. It was revealed that none of the acquaintances involved in the crime were public figures.
Aggravated quasi-rape refers to sexual assault committed on an incapacitated person who is unable to resist, either by someone armed with a weapon or by two or more individuals acting together. If convicted, Taeil could face at least seven years in prison or even life in prison under Article 4, Paragraph 1 of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
