Kwon Jin Young, the CEO of Hook Entertainment and former agency head of Lee Seung Gi, has admitted to charges of illegally obtaining sleeping pills.
During the first trial for violations of the Narcotics Control Act (specifically, psychotropic substances) held on June 20 at the Seoul Central District Court under Judge Park So Jung, Kwon’s lawyer stated, "The defendant acknowledges all charges and is remorseful."
The lawyer added, "Please consider that the defendant has been prescribed sleeping pills daily by a doctor since 2015 due to treatment and prevention of recurrence after suffering from lower body paralysis caused by a cerebral infarction."
The court will conduct another hearing on July 4 to further question Kwon Jin Young.
On April 30, Kwon was indicted without detention for violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances). She is accused of receiving 17 sleeping pills on three occasions from two employees.
It was revealed that from January to July 2022, Kwon instructed an employee without sleep disorders to fake symptoms to obtain Stilnox (a sleep-inducing drug containing zolpidem). Kwon also reportedly received zolpidem from another person who was already taking the medication.
Additionally, Kwon has been at the center of controversy since November 2022, due to a dispute over unpaid earnings with singer and actor Lee Seung Gi, who had been with Hook Entertainment for 18 years.

Not interested in someone who can't sleep getting hold of sleeping tablets, illegal or not. I want to know if she's being done for fraud or embezzlement at any point, what happened with that case? Last I heard there was an investigation started, then crickets. Or are they using the sleeping tablets as a sort of holding charge because at this point they can't prove anything else?
