Lee Young Ae, known internationally for her role in the hit drama "Dae Jang Geum," is in discussions to host her first-ever talk show, signaling a new chapter in her illustrious career. 

According to broadcasting sources on February 4, KBS is planning to launch a talk show with Lee as the MC, following the current music talk show "The Seasons - Lee Hyori's Red Carpet." While the production of the program has not been finalized, both parties are actively exchanging ideas.

This potential new role as a fixed MC in a variety show marks a significant shift for Lee, who has previously charmed audiences with her calm and intellectual presence in dramas. The format of the KBS talk show is expected to diverge from "The Seasons" series, aiming instead to feature celebrities from various fields including entertainment, sports, politics, and society, reminiscent of shows like "Kim Seung-woo's Win-Win," "Kim Je-dong's Healing Camp," and "You Quiz on the Block." Rumors suggest that efforts are being made to secure MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani as the first guest.

Shohei Ohtani, who recently signed a massive ten-year, $700 million contract with the LA Dodgers after his tenure with the LA Angels, is a two-way phenom known for his exceptional performances both as a pitcher and a hitter. Ohtani's potential appearance on the show coincides with his visit to Seoul for the 2024 MLB season opener between the LA Dodgers and the San Diego Padres, featuring Kim Ha-seong, at the Gocheok Sky Dome on March 20 and 21.

Lee Young-ae's venture into hosting comes amidst her continued acting career, with recent news of her casting in the upcoming drama "Maestra" and the anticipated "Medical Woman Dae Jang Geum." The latter is a follow-up to the 2003 drama "Dae Jang Geum," which propelled Lee to Hallyu (a term coined to describe the global popularity and spread of South Korean culture) stardom.
