Korean netizens are slamming NCT member Taeyong after the release of his comeback MV, "TAP".
Released on February 28 at 6 PM KST as the title track from Taeyong 2nd mini album of the same name, "TAP" is a hip-hop number with Bluesy sounds and a simple, catchy rap.
The MV for "TAP", which seems to take inspiration from the popular Japanese reality program 'Old Enough!' (or 'My First Errand'), was filmed entirely in Tokyo. It begins with Taeyong waking up in a traditional Japanese-style home, where he decides to venture out on a mission to find the traditional Japanese snack dango. He then visits various locations around Tokyo including a cafe, a public bath (where he dances in front of a large painting of Mt. Fuji), and more until he finds what he's looking for. Furthermore, the MV featured captions in both Korean and Japanese throughout the story, raising questions.
The MV, with its strong "Japanese-flavor", was not well-received by Korean netizens.
Many did not hold back their harsh criticism, commenting,
"Is he pro-Japanese? Just go to Japan!"
"Can he even call himself Korean?"
"Does he want to become Japanese..."
"Even fans can't defend him on this one. They need to just take the MV down and never mention it ever again."
"Everything about this is so Japanese that it's not even a controversy. It literally might as well be a Japanese MV by a J-Pop idol."
"Well I will never ever listen to this song as long as I live."
"Wow honorary Japanese."
"This makes me so mad. And tomorrow is March First!"
"Putting this MV out a week before March First... you have no one to blame even if people call you a traitor."
"Just go to Japan and be a Japanese idol already."
"Whoever thought of this idea, whoever gave the green light for this idea, whoever worked on this MV... nice to know there are so many pro-Japanese at SM."
"Just go to the army already."
Meanwhile, the Japanese dance crew TSUBAKILL, known for appearing on 'Street Woman Fighter 2', also made an appearance in the "TAP" MV.
remember guys, this is just loud noise from a small minority and allkpop is capitalising on it. Even i can make up alleged comments that comes without sources and make it an article.
