The occult mystery film 'Exhuma' (directed by Jang Jae-hyun), which depicts a bizarre incident occurring among geomancers, funeral directors, and shamans who relocate a suspicious grave for a large sum of money, has taken the top spot in the overall box office during its opening week, recording an overwhelming score for four consecutive days and continuing its box office success.
According to the Integrated Computer Network of the Korean Film Council, 'Exhuma' achieved first place in the overall box office as of 7:00 AM on February 26, attracting 1,963,554 people from February 23 to 25, the opening weekend, and accumulating a total audience of 2,299,706 people, causing a sensation in theaters.
Despite being released on a Thursday, this surpasses the opening weekend score of 1,494,226 people and the opening week cumulative audience of 1,877,123 people for '12.12: The Day', the highest-grossing film of 2023, once again proving the power of K-occult.
After setting the highest opening score of 2024, 'Exhuma' not only surpassed 1 million and 2 million viewers in the shortest time but also set a record for the highest daily audience in 2024, with 779,925 people on the 24th and 818,130 people on the 25th, continuing its unstoppable box office run.
