Big Bang's Daesung openly expressed his love and pride for his team and fellow members.
On February 16, during the broadcast of the variety show 'Huh Young Man's Food Travel' on TV Chosun, Daesung took viewers on a serene culinary adventure through the countryside of Namdo in South Jeolla Province, exploring the dining culture of Hwasun, Jeollanam-do.
Accompanied by legendary Korean comic artist and host Huh Young Man, Daesung marveled at the picturesque landscapes of Hwasun, which even the legendary Korean wandering poet Kim Satgat couldn't resist. The two leisurely strolled through the charming neighborhood nestled between Mt. Mudeung and Hwasun's rugged cliffs.
During their walk, Huh Young Man casually inquired, "Are you from Big Bang?" to which Daesung replied with a smile, "Yes, indeed. Have you heard of me?" Huh Young Man, recognizing the name, prompted Daesung to spontaneously sing a snippet of "Fantastic Baby."
Subsequently, Daesung treated viewers to a medley of Big Bang's greatest hits, including "Bang Bang Bang" and "Lies." However, Huh Young Man's slightly bewildered expression brought a chuckle to the scene.
They ended up at a simple-looking restaurant without a sign, and the chimney was even sealed off with bricks. Despite this, the owner, full of confidence, suggested their special meals: spicy catfish stew and grilled catfish. He said with certainty, "Isn't this what you came for?"
Amidst savoring their meal, Huh Young Man's curiosity was piqued as he asked, "What do you call the songs performed by idols?" Daesung explained, "They're referred to as K-pop. I've also dabbled in trot songs, like 'Look at Me, Gwisun,' as you mentioned earlier." While as a member of Big Bang, Daesung has garnered affection for his solo trot releases such as "Look at Me, Gwisum" and "It's a Big Hit."
In response to Huh Young Man's query about transcending genres like K-pop and trot, Daesung shared, "Our parents were avid fans of trot, so I naturally grew up listening to it and embracing it."
He then expressed his unwavering pride in his team and fellow members, stating, "Thanks to the support and ideas from my older brothers in the group (Taeyang and G-Dragon), I've had many moments of being 'cool' on stage. I feel no shame or hesitation in sharing music that I find enjoyable and meaningful with a wider audience after solidifying my position as Big Bang."
Bigbang, truly a one of a kind group. The very group that brought me into the world of kpop back in 2009 when I was just a small lil kid. I know many people have their reserves on the many negative things that are tied to their name, and I myself am sadden how things transpire with Seungri destroying their legacy, but I still truly hope to see the remaining three, maybe even 4 stand on a stage again at least once. However small the stage is and wherever it may be, know that VIPs still look forward to it. Cheers to these people that brought many joy in music to my youth 👑
