Starship Entertainment announced on January 17 KST that IVE's Wonyoung has won a civil lawsuit filed against a former Youtuber.
The agency revealed that they have been pursuing both civil and criminal lawsuits, including overseas legal actions, since November 2022 against Park, who ran a channel that continuously harassed their artists. The criminal complaint has recently been transferred from the police to the prosecutor's office, awaiting a thorough legal judgment. However, in the civil lawsuit filed by Starship Entertainment, the other party has not responded, and Wonyoung's case, in particular, was ruled in favor of her with a judgment stating it was based on false allegations.
Starship Entertainment stated, "We plan to provide further details through an official statement once all legal proceedings are concluded. Starship maintains a vigilant monitoring system to safeguard the rights, reputation, privacy, and integrity of our artists. We will continue to take vigorous action against any future instances of harm and will pursue all available legal avenues when no agreement is reached."
Earlier, in July of the previous year, Starship filed a lawsuit for damages against the operator of the YouTube channel, for spreading false information about IVE.
In October of the same year, Wonyoung personally filed a lawsuit for damages, and her legal representative presented evidence that the videos on the channel contained false information and insulting content, equating to personal injury.
In addition to these actions, Starship and Wonyoung have also filed charges of defamation and insults against Park, with the Gangnam Police Station currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
👏👏👏 Congrats to Wonyoung!
I was wrong, I thought these illegal acts would be a slap on the wrist with small fines. But supposedly Wonyoung will be rewarded 100 million won plus legal fees.
