Actors Shin Seung-hwan and Lim Ju-hwan have been secretly filming for the highly-anticipated third season of the British crime drama 'Gangs of London' in London since the end of last year.
The series, a crime-action noir about criminal organizations vying for control of London, is a big-budget production with a cost of 100 billion won. Produced by Pulse Films in the UK, it is broadcast on Sky TV and AMC+ in the US. The series, a BAFTA winner and Emmy nominee, gained immense popularity in the US and Europe, with over two million viewers within a week of its April 2020 release. It also has a solid fan base in Korea.
The news that Korean director Kim Hong-sun, known for 'The Con Artists', 'The Chase', 'The Divine Fury', and the internationally acclaimed 'Project Wolf Hunting', will direct Season 3 has garnered significant interest in Korea. After 'Hunters' received international praise, Kim signed with WME, one of the world's largest agencies. He was approached by Pulse Films to helm 'Gangs of London' Season 3. This marks the first time a Korean director is directing a series with such a massive budget.
Shin Seung-hwan and Lim Ju-hwan's participation in 'Gangs of London' Season 3 is reportedly due to their special appearance in 'Project Wolf Hunting'. They will play gangsters from Busan who have moved to London. As 'Gangs of London' depicts gangs from various countries battling for power in the London underworld, both actors have reportedly captivated the production team with their action skills.
Lim Ju-hwan was initially scheduled to attend the production report conference for tvN's 'Somehow President 3' in October last year but had to seek understanding due to the filming schedule for 'Gangs of London' Season 3 in London.
Under the direction of Kim Hong-sun, the participation of Shin Seung-hwan and Lim Ju-hwan in 'Gangs of London' Season 3 is highly anticipated. The filming, which began last autumn, is aimed for a release by the end of this year.
