The 'Running Man' members have always made fun of one another, but sometimes it crosses the line. On the latest episode of the longest-running humor, the members made fun of Ji Suk Jin. Netizens who watched the broadcast thought the members went too far and are accusing them of "bullying" Ji Suk Jin.
In the newest episode of 'Running Man' that aired on November 13, the members were given the mission of traveling around Seoul without the aid of GPS and using a traditional road atlas map. On this day, Yoo Jae Suk was the one driving and assured the members to trust him since he knows his way around the city. Ji Suk Jin was sitting in the passenger seat.
As soon as Yoo Jae Suk started driving, Ji Suk Jin looked at the map and advised him to turn right. But Yoo Jae Suk didn't listen and just told him, "Stay still." Thereafter, Ji Suk Jin continued to give Yoo Jae Suk directions saying, "Go straight and then go through the tunnel," but Yoo Jae Suk responded by saying, "Just sit still. Just fall asleep next to me, and then when I say, 'we're here' you just say, 'oh really?' and that's it." The other members, including Kim Jong Kook, also agreed with Yoo Jae Suk.
When Yoo Jae Suk was making a right on the road where they had to go straight, Ji Suk Jin yelled, "Straight!" But the members acted like they didn't hear Ji Suk Jin and continued to ignore him. Kim Jong Kook then replied, "Suk Jin Hyung, just put the map down," and Song Ji Hyo replied, "Oppa, just go to sleep."
Yoo Jae Suk later realized that he had taken a wrong turn and had to go straight. Yoo Jae Suk jokingly shifted the blame and said, "I told you we had to go straight." Kim Jong Kook continued to say to Ji Suk Jin, "We can just go straight. Why are you getting mad?" and Ji Suk Jin continued to be frustrated.
Yang Se Chan, who was watching from the back, explained, "Are you guys fighting again?" and in the subtitle, the production team wrote, "Ji Ra So Ni who is fighting against 6 again today." Later, Yoo Jae Suk decided to ask Yang Se Chan to come to the passenger seat and send Ji Suk Jin to the back seat. Ji Suk Jin expressed his frustration and explained, "I was always right; it's just so frustrating."
Yoo Jae Suk protested, "the content gets fun and interesting when we get lost a bit," but Ji Suk Jin argued, "We wasted 15 minutes because you made the wrong turn." Yoo Jae Suk continued to blame Ji Suk Jin and said, "That's why you should have looked at the map properly." But Ji Suk Jin continued to express his frustration and said, "I said so many times to go straight after I looked at the map."
This isn't the first time the members made fun of Ji Suk Jin in this manner. They have continuously made fun of or picked on Ji Suk Jin throughout 'Running Man.' At times, the 'Running Man' production team uploaded videos and clips of certain episodes with the title "Picking on Big Nose," "Yoo Jae Suk in charge," etc.
Although this was done for the show's content, there were viewers who expressed their dissatisfaction and thought the members went too far. They commented, "I wish they would stop making fun of him," "They shouldn't cross the line," "Ji Suk Jin's family would be so sad if they watch this," and "This is no different from bullying, why are they making this bullying into show content?"
i love this show but it's very clearly scripted (like each person has a character/persona they play), the show wouldn't have gone on for so long if they really were treating him like this off screen and jihyo wouldn't have joined his management agency if this was the case.
