On November 14, 1st-generation idols Eun Ji Won and Eugene shared an honest talk about their love lives on the MBN variety program 'Passionate Goodbye'.
On this day, the two hosts set off to pick up their guest couple for the day, a couple filing for divorce. After hearing the couple's story, Eun Ji Won observed, "She reminds me of my ex-wife. She has similar vibes."
Hearing this, Eugene asked, "Did she have a strong energy?" Eun Ji Won answered, "My ex-wife was a former judo athlete. She was an athlete, so she was really strong. When I got into fights with the boys back in Hawaii, she would come and beat them up."
To this, Eugene couldn't help but ask, "You've known each other since childhood?" Eun Ji Won replied, "She was my first love. I met her again after 13 years, and that's how we got married." However, Eun Ji Won and his ex-wife divorced just 2-years after their marriage. Eun Ji Won reflected, "We just kept seeing each other as we were back then since we met as first loves. But people change over time, and we just didn't accept that. But rather than asking, 'Why?', you just think in your head, 'Back then, it was different...'."
Eun Ji Won also shared, "We ended it on good terms. We just decided that we would end things before we really started to harbor bad feelings toward each other. After we got divorced, we stayed friends for about 2 years. But then, I realized that it probably wasn't right for either of our futures, so we naturally grew apart."
Eugene then remarked, "If you want to keep it American-style, that's honestly fine to keep in touch with your ex." Eun Ji Won disagreed and said, "But if you start seeing someone else, then that becomes a problem."
I admire his honesty. It seems like they just drifted apart, but were honest with each other. I admire that kind of relationship and friendship.
Sad they couldn't keep being friends, but that doesn't work for all exes 🤷🏽♀️
