"With popularity, the malicious comments started."
On the May 14 episode of KBS variety "Diet," Brave Girls' Yujeong revealed some hurtful malicious comments and death threats she has received for her weight and how she looks.
On the episode, Yujeong talked about a period of time where they were scared of receiving no comments at all, "Back then, no matter what we did, no one knew except for our company, family and CEO. So we had made up our mind to stop continuing." However, with the eruption of Brave Girls' popularity in early 2021 thanks to a compilation video, Yujeong said, "We were dragged out by our colour. And it was so surreal since we received so much attention so quickly. But that just lasted for two to three months."
She continued with her story on how the eruption of their popularity led to people leaving malicious comments, "People called us 'Pig Girls'... I even got direct messages threatening to kill me." When Brave Girls returned to music shows, death threats would also go, "I will kill you (when you go to the music show). It sounds like a lie, right? Do you think I can't kill you?"
Some of the more common malicious comment also include, "First time seeing this, why are they pigs? Are idols eating well nowadays?" "I know they took a break from being idols for a while, but pay some attention to your fats." "Let's get rid of the belly fat." "What's with the belly fat. Do they not have any consciousness as idols? They look like just normal people." "Piglets."
Meanwhile, the KBS variety show "Diet" is a show dedicated to teaching how to become healthier and more energetic through various healthy ways. Yujeong's profile shows that she was 163cm tall and 53kg, raising questions as to why she is receiving such malicious comments attacking her appearance and weight.
