BTS member Park Jimin is an idol and artist whose expression through dance is unmatched. His vast experience in the art form has led to him being called the Dance God and Dance King as well as the acclaim of experts in the field.
On the 20th of October Filipino-American choreographer, Brian Puspos appeared on a STEEZY Studio episode where he, along with dancer Clay Boonthanakit reacted to Jimin's performances through a series of videos suggested by fans. Puspos, who is also a recording artist, is known for his choreography of BTS songs like Butterfly, Serendipity, and My Time. The analysis was an interesting and eye-opening experience for them as they dissected some of Jimin's best performances.
The two dancers praised Jimin's performances wherein he always incorporates the right emotion, the desired energy, technique and even uses his eyes to communicate with the audience. While Jimin's dancing was analyzed as being powerful, clean, and dynamic, they said that he always executes moves perfectly and effortlessly, making it look easy. The two dancers noted Jimin's commitment on stage, whereby he never takes breaks even when the camera is not on him and still maintains discipline.
While they pointed out several dance techniques and styles employed by Jimin when performing, Puspos expressed how awestruck he was by Jimin's Black Swan stage because of his versatility. Clay even added that while other dances claim versatility, Jimin was different. By watching him dance to Black Swan, for example, it really stood out to them that he had a wealth of expertise in the modern, contemporary, hip-hop, and pop & locking genres.
Serendipity which is a favorite of Brian Puspos and for which he created choreography for was also brought into focus. Brian could not hide his pride and praised Jimin for bringing in his own flavor to the dance choreography and making it even better than originally imagined. Brian was also profoundly touched by Jimin, who he said took a chance with him and accepted to take on his detailed choreography. He expressed his gratefulness for Jimin, who interpreted his choreography with much grace and charm by also freestyling part of the choreography.
Indeed Jimin has always been good at dancing, way back when he was a trainee at BigHit, an ex-trainee gave a wonderful testimony about a particular trainee who was well versed in the Hip Hop and modern dance genres. This rarity amazed him and all others; finally, their curiosity was quelled when they saw Jimin show his incredible dance moves, and when he did a tumble, they were impressed because at the time only one person among them could tumble. Jimin's dancing has been said to be the true expression of his being and one which is able to move hearts even to tears.
From notable personalities like Sir Mathew Bourne, Nicky Anderson, Yuzuru Hanyu, Yamakai, Lee Joon, Lim Jinmo, Chae Rina, Gong Minzy, Lee Yoonseok, The Korean Kim Baek Bong Fan dance preservation society and more, Jimin's dance continues to draw praise and recognition. In a reaction video by Korean modern dance majors, Jimin was hailed as the pride of Korea for his dancing and stage presence. The dancers complimented him, saying:
Everyone tries so hard to be the top of the class, and he was No.1 among them
Thanks to Jimin people think that Koreans are good at these dances too, and introduce Korea to the world
People comment a lot that they got to know about Korean elements through Jimin
I think even if he started contemporary dance again he would do great
He’s good at every genre
Jimin is the one that pops in my mind when I think of dancers
He is the best dancer and king of stage
