'Filter' by BTS's Jimin continues to set new records on various music platforms
BTS's Jimin's solo song Filter, released on February 21, 2020, on the Map of the Soul:7 album, has been setting and breaking records ever since its release. For instance, Filter recorded the highest number of streams for a Korean solo song in the first 24 hours on Spotify history and was the highest-charting solo song on the worldwide iTunes song chart at #2, only behind the title track. Moreover, on Korean music charts including Melon, Flo, Bugs, Soribada, and Genie, Filter ranked second on all the platforms as the highest solo song on the charts. As of now, it holds the record for the highest number of number 1's in iTunes history for any B-side track and is also the most-streamed BTS non-single on Melon, the only one in the top ten most-streamed non-singles by BTS on the platform. Evidently, Filter was a favorite among many listeners since its release, and it has not slowed down on its popularity ever since.
On August 16, statistics showed that Filter has now been identified over 300k times on Shazam, the only solo song from the MOTS: 7 album to achieve this feat. Jimin now has two songs that have been identified on the music discovery app over 300k times, the other song being 'Serendipity.' Jimin now joins Psy as the only Korean artists to have achieved this many Shazams on two of their songs.
On the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, Filter spent its 73rd week on the chart as per the official chart posted on August 17. With this achievement, it extended its record as the longest-charting Korean solo song released in 2020 on the chart and also the longest-charting BTS solo song from the MOTS: 7 album. Out of these 73 weeks, Filter has stayed inside the top 10 for 54 weeks, thus being the overall highest-charting Korean solo song from a group on this chart. As of now, Filter is the only solo song from MOTS: 7 to have sold over 300k units in the US, the largest music market in the world.
In terms of streams, Filter continues to make its mark on various music streaming platforms as well. On Spotify, the largest music streaming platform globally, it surpassed 189 million streams as of August 18, extending its reign as the most-streamed solo song from the MOTS: 7 album and second most-streamed solo song by BTS overall, a feat that it achieved in just under a year and a half since its release.
On YouTube, the song achieved 67 million streams, also extending its record as the most-streamed Korean solo audio track on the history of the platform.
Filter enjoys massive popularity globally. With its upbeat tempo, and Jimin's mesmerizing voice, it is only expected that the song's impact will be long-lasting, and more milestones will continue to be recorded in the coming days.
