The record label YG Entertainment released, this Sunday (31/5), how the solo careers of BLACKPINK members will be launched in 2020. The first will be from Rosé, scheduled for September. Before that, YG wants to focus on the girlgroup's "comeback", scheduled for June.
Part of the statement:
“YG released Jennie's first solo single,‘ SOLO ’, in November 2018 and has been working on Rosé’s first solo song for over a year.
We ask for your understanding to take more time than expected, because we are releasing multiple tracks on an album, instead of a digital single.
All BLACKPINK members agreed that the group's 'comeback' and the release of their first full album are more important than anything.
In addition, Lisa's wonderful solo single is already ready for release, and we are currently preparing to release Jisoo's solo single as well.
Solo releases will continue in sequential order after the release of BLACKPINK's first album in September."
BLACKPINK's First Full Album
After the success of “Kill This Love” in 2019, the K-Pop group is preparing something even bigger for this year. The group's first album promises to be a great moment for K-Pop culture. The first single from the new era comes out in June and the second single comes out between July and August.
"Sour Candy" success
BLACKPINK warms up the audience for the album alongside Lady Gaga. One of the highlights of the singer's new album is “Sour Candy”, collaboration with the girlgroup. The song broke a record that was already BLACKPINK's: K-Pop girlgroup track with more appearances at the top of iTunes. On the day of the album's release, “Sour Candy” was No. 1 in the digital store in 51 countries.
In addition, the official audio broke a record on YouTube, with 21.8 million plays in 24 hours. On Spotify, “Sour Candy” also stood out among the tracks on Lady Gaga's “Chromatica”: the song debuted in 2nd place on the global chart, with 6.2 million streams on the first day.
