Song Hye Kyo’s agency has clarified reports about her reasons for turning down the upcoming drama “Hyena” (literal title).
Last month, Song Hye Kyo and Joo Ji Hoon were confirmed to be in talks for the new legal drama, which will be helmed by producing director (PD) Jang Tae Yoo of “My Love from the Star.” However, it was revealed on June 27 that the actress had ultimately decided not to appear in the drama.
An unconfirmed report published by news outlet Ilgan Sports claimed that after initially declining the lead role, Song Hye Kyo had changed her mind and accepted the casting offer—then suddenly pulled out of the drama at the beginning of this week.
On June 27, Song Hye Kyo’s agency responded by firmly denying that her decision had anything to do with her newly announced divorce from Song Joong Ki.
United Artists Agency (UAA) Korea CEO Park Hyun Jung stated, “Her personal life is unrelated to her work. ‘Hyena’ was simply one of the several scripts she was considering, and it was a drama that she had already turned down.”
Earlier in the day, Song Joong Ki announced that he had filed for a divorce from Song Hye Kyo, whom he married in October 2017. Song Hye Kyo later released a statement through her agency explaining the reasons for their divorce.
