Jang Ja Yeon: “ it wasn’t a suicide”

Posted by roon449 pts Monday, April 1, 2019

Jang Ja Yeon is believed to have left behind more than 50 pages of a document outlining the abuse she suffered at the hands of 31 powerful figures in the business and media industries.

After her death, the document was misleadingly referred to as her 'suicide note'. The media coverage at that time has had a hand in creating this misconception.

"It's difficult to believe Jang Ja Yeon’s documents are a suicide letter. It’s not written in the normal form of a suicide letter: she signed every page with her signature, stamp, fingerprint, and registration number." - Kyonggi University Professor, Lee Soo Jung

Investigation results revealed on March 15, 2011, concluded that the document could not be said to be a suicide note.

Dispatch released an analysis of CCTV footage showing Jang Ja Yeon's final moments. They've written a piece on it which also features other information from the previous investigation as well as 4 pages of the document they claim to have gotten a hold of (Jang Ja Yeon, The Last CCTV Analysis).

The previous investigation concluded with the arrest of her agent, identified as Kim, on charges of assaulting, threatening and coercing Jang to serve men at drinking parties and have sex with them. He drew a one-year jail term. The 31 men were acquitted. The focus turned more into entertainment agencies and talent contracts.

The investigation is currently reopened until May with a crucial witness. A former colleague of Jang Ja Yeon, Actress Yoon Ji Oh, has come forth with new information.

According to Yoon, Jang's death is not a suicide and a reinvestigation should lead to the extension of the statutes of limitations for the case to a maximum 25 years.

Yoon Ji Oh also claims that it wasn't a case of sexual bribery, but rather sexual abuse. She called out certain news outlets for reporting Jang's case as a 'sexual bribery' case, saying:

“You reported that she provided ‘sexual favors as bribes,’ but did you confirm that such activities had taken place? If you did, then the media, police, and prosecution must know about the injustice experienced by [Jang Ja Yeon] and should clearly disclose it. It was ‘sexual assault,’ not ‘sexual bribery,’ and her tarnished reputation must be recovered. The secondary damages irresponsibly caused by the media to [Jang Ja Yeon] and myself must be remedied.”

Yoon asserts that she witnessed Jang Ja Yeon being sexually assaulted and knew of her preparing the documents before her death.

Yoon Ji Oh says that "There are five people in addition to Lee Mi Sook who know what happened.” She claims that these actors/actresses have greater knowledge than her on what happened and urges them to participate in the investigation even if they have to do so under an alias.

Furthermore, on the topic of the document, Yoon hinted that the names of three journalists and one politician were contained in the letter she saw.

On March 28 broadcast of KBS1’s “Tonight Kim Jae Dong,” Yoon Ji Oh discussed specific details about the document.

“'These two lines [from the document] were 100 percent written by the late actress herself. It went through handwriting analysis and was even submitted as a document to the police and prosecution. However, they have never been revealed to the media. The word ‘threat’ is clearly stated in these two lines.”

Notes:

- Till this day media misreferences the documents as "suicide note" despite that being debunked years ago. A lot of such misleading "facts" published seem to have pushed Yoon to be as public as possible with what she knows to be true.

- Claims so far: 1)Not a suicide 2) Sexual abuse, not sex bribes 3) More witnesses.

- The last post ended up causing confusion. I'll try to be as clear and concise as possible with this sensitive case and cite multiple sources. If you feel there is anything obscure/misinformed/etc .......I'll be monitoring the comments.

I don’t know If it makes it any better knowing that she didn’t kill herself but if it’s worse knowing she was murdered. Either way she’s gone but it’s about time her death is brought to justice. Yoon Ji Oh is one courageous woman. May she be safe from these horrible people
