YG Entertainment's girl group BlackPink has sold out its first world tour, 'In Your Area.'
YG Entertainment, the company's agency, said tickets for its sixth
performance in six North American cities, including Los Angeles on April
17, Chicago on April 24, Hamilton on May 27, Newark on May 1, Atlanta
on May 5, and Fort Worth on April 8.
Yang Hyun-seok, the CEO of his agency, even posted on his
Instagram that BlackPink sold more than 60,000 seats in his first North American
tour.
Yang said in English, "Thank you for all North American Blinks out there. Will do our best to be there more often."
It's the first time for the Korean girl group BLACKPINK to hold a tour in North
America.
YG is known to be considering additional performances as the Arena
(the stadium) with more than 100,000 seats sold out in one swoop.
BlackPink ranked 40th in Billboard's main chart "Billboard 200" and 55th in
"Hot 100" in June last year, ranking top in K-pop girl groups. It was
also the first K-pop girl group to be listed on the top 100 of the
British Official Single Chart.
BlackPink's massive number of subscribers to YouTube's channel, which is the largest K-pop group, surpassed 3.9 million.
They have recently appeared on CBS's 'Late Show With Stephen Colbert', ABC's 'Good Morning America' and ABC's 'Strahan and Sarah'.
BlackPink will also perform at the American Music and Arts Festival
(Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival), the first K-pop idol group
to perform on April 12 and 19.
