On December 4, Big Hit Entertainment responded to various news outlet reports stating that the label has registered for trade mark rights to the names "BTS" and "ARMY".
Big Hit shared, "It's true that we are actively attempting to acquire trade mark rights to various names related to our artist." The label refrained from revealing additional details. According to the Korea International Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS), Big Hit registered the English version names "BTS" and "ARMY" for trade mark rights in July of last year. The label already owns trade mark rights to "?????" in Korean, as well as "Bangtan boyz".
Meanwhile, BTS will be spending a busy end to their year with appearances at the '2018 MAMA', 'SBS Gayo Daejun', and more.
i'm sure they can trademark BTS but can they trademark ARMY? maybe i'm just really ignorant on trademarking so someone help me. because the word army is actually a term for people in the army and the army itself. will they be able to trademark that?
