After a thorough analysis of data, the major financial company revealed that the main rookies of 2018 will be JYP Entertainment's Stray Kids and Cre.Ker Entertainment's The Boyz.
For Stray Kids, the data took into consideration two reasons: 1) the group's survival-based creation method, like the birth of Wanna One, and 2) multiculturalism of the group, targeting overseas fanbases like BTS. It also notes that the lyrics for "Hellevator," for example, resembles the downtrodden theme of youth as did BTS.
Regarding The Boyz, the financial group pointed out that the fact that no other major entertainment companies will be revealing rookies anytime soon is already a plus. With the former 'Produce 101' season 2 contestant Joo Hak Nyeon on board, the group has already begun amassing fandoms through the reality show, 'Flower Boy Snack Shop.' However, the group did not weigh most of its focus on just Joo Hak Nyeon; the songs and video materials featured the members more equally than they usually would with many other 'Produce 101' stars.
The data also revealed other interesting numbers for 2017: BTS accounted for 18% of the entire K-Pop industry's album sales, while EXO followed behind at 15%. TWICE were the top-selling girl group with sales rates almost 4 times than that of Taeyeon, who came in 2nd place for female artists.
