Koreans may not realize it -- but here's why South Korea slays
1.
The convenience stores
You can't miss it. Convenience stores are literally everywhere in South Korea -- GS25, FamilyMart, Mini Stop -- the list goes on. They're up and running 24/7, seven days a week and it's a one-stop shopping heaven because they sell absolutely EVERYTHING. Junk food to full meals, booze, groceries, to even socks -- you name it, they'll probably have it.
2.
The booze
Booze is sold at all convenience stores, which means you can purchase alcohol everywhere. And it's super cheap. A bottle of soju at the convenience store costs just one dollar! And no need to go to a bar or a pub; you can just drink in public without being asked to show your ID -- Of course, unless you look like you shouldn't be drinking yet, which means 19 years old in South Korea.
3.
Public transportation
From buses to trains to even taxis, South Korea's public transportation system is super convenient. And the train stations are kept impeccably clean. Some of the subway stations are popular underground shopping hubs, and if you need to use the restroom while you're out, just head down to one of the stations. The bathroom is ridiculously clean! The cleanliness, ease-of-use, and reliability of Korea's public transportation system make it superior.
4.
Amazing Customer Service
South Koreans really should be a world example for excellent customer service. The wait times are short and people are super nice, accommodating, and friendly.
5.
The high-speed internet
South Korea boasts the fastest average internet connection speed in the world and almost everyone is wired -- about 45 million people or 92.4 percent of the population to be exact. There's basically free WiFi everywhere, but if you're traveling and you want to guarantee connection even when roaming the streets, you can even rent portable WiFi modems. Or you can even purchase prepaid WiFi ID cards to hook onto hotspots.
6.
Delivery services
Get absolutely anything delivered within minutes, from groceries to snacks from the convenience store, your laundry or dry-cleaning, to chicken wings for your picnic with friends at Hangkang river or the beach, to even -- can you believe it -- McDonalds. You can get anything delivered within minutes wherever you are, 24/7, seven days a week, at no extra charge. If you order Korea's famous jjajangmyun, they'll even come back to pick up your plates and trash -- amazing!
7.
The nightlife
They call New York City the "city that never sleeps" but not quite. Even in the Big Apple, stores go dark eventually, but not in South Korea, and especially not in its capital, Seoul, which is a mecca of bars, clubs, and restaurants. And in South Korea, no matter what time of day, you'll have endless food options.
8.
It's home to the best airport in the world
Incheon International airport has held the number-one ranking in the world for the 12 consecutive years, according to the Airports Council International. It's also one of the world's most beautiful -- it's spacious and bright and kept impeccably clean. The staff members are super generous, accommodating and respectful. Here, you'll never worry about losing your baggage -- they have 0.0001% baggage mishandling rate, so you're more likely to get struck by lightning. You also won't have to deal with the nightmarish wait times: average time for arrivals is 12 minutes and 19 for departure. Of course, being in South Korea, you have free WiFi and if you don't have a device to connect to it, they'll provide a laptop. Shopaholics, this is your paradise. The airport is basically a shopping mall, with 90 duty-free stores. Had a long flight? You can even take a shower in the squeaky-clean bathrooms. And parents, if your kids get rowdy because of the long-travel and wait, you can drop them off at the playroom. For all these reasons and so much more, this airport most definitely deserves its number-one title.
9.
It's a beauty hub
South Korea has become a fashion and beauty trendsetter. It's especially garnered worldwide attention for its innovative beauty products and fashion/makeup looks, popularly donned by K-Pop idols and movie stars. Also, Koreans boast the most flawless skin because of their natural, diligent skincare routines and products. And, whether you endorse it or you don't -- Seoul is also the plastic surgery capital of the world, with many flocking here for procedures from around the world.
