During the girls emotional moment of winning their first No.1 award as an entire member group, the IOI members thanked and shouted out to their fans with various words of gratitude. Netizens noticed that in the midst of a bit of chaos, Pinky's voice can be heard shouting, "IOI, Let's Love! (IOI, sa-rang-ha-ja!)" Some EXO fans in Korea are upset that she is using the famous EXO chant, "EXO, Let's Love! (EXO, sa-rang-ha-ja!)," which the group has been using since their debut.
On a popular online community board, the poster wrote that Pinky seemed too overwhelmed with emotion, and impulsively used the phrase without thinking. Some replies criticized the poster and EXO-L, calling them too sensitive, and saying that they do not own the phrase. After a while, the most voted up comment became the following:
"...in fandom culture, it's common knowledge to not use other fandom's things. EXO uses the chant in public performances and on air when they receive awards before they get on stage. This isn't just us. Other fandoms have fought because of something like this. Isn't it expected that we will be angry about this? Is it right for a singer to use another group's chant?"
Many fans are tweeting their thoughts with #EXO_letslove and expressing their desire to protect the phrase. One tweet says, "Please do not copy the chant...It means a lot to EXO and EXO-L's." Some are demanding an apology from IOI and their fans. The tweet below says, "I didn't know IOI fandom would still not apologize...It's so pathetic that they don't know right from wrong."
What do you think? Do you think IOI fans should apologize for calling EXO-L's too sensitive after they became angry over Pinky's usage of the EXO chant?
