Welcome to our first edition of our 'K-indie Spotlight' series in 2016 where we introduce various independent artists in Korea each month!
With the help from 'Onstage [K],' a Korean indie music program that introduces the authentic beauty of Korean contemporary music to the world, we hope to be adding diversity and possibly enlightening our readers with the Korean music scene that has not yet been touched on.
Check out the round of talented K-indie artists for July 2016 below!
1. Bamshinsa
Four urban guys who love the evening and night culture sing about the sentiments of Seoulians as well as the gloominess, lonesomeness, extravagance and pleasure of the city. Highly influenced by The Beatles, Bamshinsa is full of analogue sentiments. Let's learn more about them on this edition of ONSTAGE K.
2. MOT
The band Mot has always been known for their dark yet extremely sensitive sounds and exceptional presence. They finally returned to the industry after a break of 8 years with the third album, 'Ashcraft.' With their ever so seasoned musicality, Mot is impressing everyone once again.
3. KIRIN
KIRIN, named after the Korean term "girina," meaning "multi-talented person," first graced the music industry in 2009 with the album, 'Space Anthem.' With his strictly calculated old-fashioned sounds and album artworks, this musician is bringing back 80's and 90's new jack swing. Also, KIRIN produces his own music videos, totally living up to his name.
4. Lee Ho-Suk
Singer-songwriter Lee Ho-suk offers slow yet meditating music through his calm voice and guitar sounds. ?His second album, 'The Philosophy of No.2,' portrays all the concerns and thoughts he had while preparing for this album as well as his growth as a musician.
