The collaboration is the first from the 'Best Friend Project' and, although it does carry a similar melody to the recent release of Girls' Generation's YoonA and 10cm's "Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway," "Cherish" does an excellent job at carrying its very own whimsical charm. Indulge in the warm embrace of G-Friend's Yuju and UP10TION's Sunyoul voices and see if you won't be cherishing this song instantly!
The MV is nothing out of the ordinary but still enjoyable as it carries out a 'behind-the-scenes' theme that showcases Yuju and Sunyoul's casual and down-to-earth personalities. They also exude a really alluring chemistry as they both resemble each other quite well and look fitting to be a couple.
As expected, K-Pop is back at again with the pastel colors (Daaaamn, K-Pop!). "Cherish" really captivates with it's visually pleasing atmosphere-- I mean this MV is a pastel colored paradise and it shouldn't be any other way! The matching pink couple outfits make anyone want to break out only their best (and most colorful) pieces for the beautiful, sunny days to come. "Cherish" amps up the anticipation for Spring's arrival.
This 'perfect couple' style really matches the lyrics of the song as it blissfully reveals the walking-on-cloud-nine feeling that only comes from a new found love. Alongside that, the uplifting chorus really brings out the feel-good, heart fluttering feeling that Spring ballads can only do best.
Aside from their heart-warming lyrics, their light voices and high tempo really bring out an uplifting characteristic to this song. Not only is Yuju able to carry a higher tone but also Sunyoul is right up there with her as he stays harmonious and follows up with his own angelic voice. Together, their voices soothe, please, and transcend the listener to a melodic daydream.
Overall, the song is cute and makes for a good listen on a cheerful yet calm playlist or even while sitting in a cafe, but it could easily be overshadowed by other popular artists and their savory ballads. The song is simple to enjoy but not exactly the #1 song for the title of 'Best Spring Ballad.' What are your thoughts on this cute duet's song? Is it already your new addiction or something you don't mind hearing now and again?
