It's been reported that Tao may be... well, very, very rich.
According to media reports, Tao will be inheriting 20 trillion CNY (approximately 3 billion USD) from his father. His father is affluent enough to have 4-5 mansions in Qingdao, and the company he owns is worth about 20 trillion CNY.

He was reportedly ranked in 1997 as the 7th richest man in Qingdao. He failed once in 2002 but had rebuilt his wealth up to its current status.
