According to the Korean Organ Donation Agency (KODA), 2-year-old Gil Jae Hong took his last breath early Thursday morning after donating his liver and kidney to two child patients who were in dire need of his organs.
Around 3:36pm KST on January 7, baby Jae Hong and his family were involved in a major car accident on the Incheon International Airport Expressway. The SUV that Jae Hong, his grandmother, and other family members were riding in suddenly came to a halt due to a vehicle defect as they were driving on the highway. The highway bus that happened to be right behind Jae Hong and his family crashed violently into the SUV.
Jae Hong's grandmother did not survive the accident, and Jae Hong's mother and his 11-year-old sister are currently receiving treatment after suffering major but non-critical injuries. Jae Hong, whose head was severely damaged, was declared to be brain dead.
