1. 20 most heartfelt moments Korean stars gave back to communities

There's a lot of glitz and glam that comes from being a K-Pop idol / drama celebrity. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are many people on this earth who are not as fortunate. A beautiful thing is that our celebrities have taken upon themselves the responsibility of setting a good example and helping people less fortunate than them. Let's check out the list of 20 stars who went above and beyond to lend more than a helping hand to the less fortunate.

2. SHINee meets with ill NY fan

In 2012, popular boy group SHINee went the distance to meet an ill fan. Alongside flying out to Korea, she was able to sing and spend time with the members and even receive gifts and photos with them. She was also fortunate enough to meet Super Junior!

3. Girl's Day visit Thailand

As honorary ambassadors of Plan Korea, Girl's Day had taken a volunteer trip to Chiang Rai, Thailand in 2013. The lovely ladies also donated all proceeds from a solo concert to Plan Korea, in order to be used for Thailand girls' birth registration campaign. They often take part in Humanitarian activities.

4. B.A.P's Bang Yong Guk helps Cambodian children

Being a man of charity, Bang Yong Guk has registered for various organizations such as World Vision, Save the Children, and UNICEF. What's more, he even sponsored two Cambodian children and he sends them money and other necessities for their daily lives. One of the children, Mim, even sent him a handwritten thank you letter! Bang Yong Guk often suggests people around him to also join! Talk about tear jerking!

5. 2NE1 visit sick children

2NE1 are not shy of doing various charity work as well. Alongside donating coal and rice wreaths, the girls often take breaks from their schedules to visit sick children in Korea.

6. 15&'s Jimin donated her award money

It may have come as quite the surprise, but 15&'s Jimin played the role of an donation angel for Africa as she explained "I donated 200 million KRW (~$182,000 USD) of the 300 million KRW (~$273,000 USD). And I received the remaining 100 million KRW after tax deductions."

7. T-ara donate and feed the poor

T-ara are known as philanthropists with quite a heavy record of good deeds on their belt! Aside from constant donations and charity work, the girls go out of their way to meet and feed the poor in person.

8. G-Dragon donates on his birthday

GD (G-Dragon) has also shown his good hearted nature by donating over $80,000 ($80,324 to be exact) even on his birthday!

9. JYJ donate over $47,000 for various charities

JYJ are another set of idols with a passionate heart. The company revealed in a statement that "JYJ held a charity auction for the 13 most popular works that were shown at the JYJ gallery in June 2013 during the JYJ membership week. They earned 50,000,000 KRW through the auction, and recently donated the proceedings to various charities."

10. SHINee's Onew donated 1.44 tons of rice to North Korean children

Onew is another veteran of charity cases! Despite the difficulty hardships and tension between the neighboring countries, he was able to show his brotherly support and supply over 1.44 tons of rice to starving children in North Korea.

11. 2PM's Junho does charity concert at Samsung hospital

JYP was able to collaborate with the Samsung hospital to hold a private concert for the patients there to lift their spirits! The charity project was successful due to Junho's efforts.

12. Girls' Generation gift auction earnings

Girls' Generation are another group to hold private auctions with their props and items used from MVs and stage sets. They used the earnings (about $50,000) to donate to local charities as well! They even participated with blood donations!

13. Super Junior donate blood

Super Junior's Shindong and Sungmin displayed their good deed of donating blood. They updated their personal SNS with awareness messages saying "As blood donation advertisers, we command you!! Donate blood!! hehe."

14. Yoon Eun Hye's efforts in Madagascar

Yoon Eun Hye took her charity work to a global scale as she participated in the Road for Hope documentary series, working with children in Madagascar!

15. Jang Dong Gun

In 2008,Jang Dong Gun was appointed as Ambassador Against Hunger for Korea by the World Food Programme. Since that time, he has donated to the fight against world hunger, even in person by heading to typhoon-stricken areas of Laos in 2010.

16. Adoption awareness

Lee Min Ho, Jang Geun Suk, Park Shi Hoo, Lee Byung Hun, Rain, and various other celebrities have taken part of adoption campaigns and services by utilizing grey scale photos of the various stars with orphaned children. It helps break the stigma Korea has about adoption.

17. Song Joong Ki, Yoochun, and Lee Jong Suk create audio books

These three talented men lend their voices to the community and the Good-Hearted Library Project by creating audio books for the visually impaired! Talk about a unique way to donate your time!

18. Ha Ji Won Smiles Again Project

Ha Ji Won actively participates in the Smile Again Project, which helped benefit low-income families and those with disabilities.

19. Lee Seung Gi - the charity angel

Gifted the title of 'Charity Angel,' Lee Seung Gi has worked alongside The Field Report Companion since 2009. His active support has inspired many fans to donate to the program as well.

20. Kim Hyun Joong's scholarships and aid relief

Kim Hyun Joong has done various donation work from disaster relief after the Japanese earthquakes, to scholarship funds for students in need of financial aid. His fans even made efforts of donating to the elderly, and he responded with a donation of his own!

21. Won Bin official UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2007

Won Bin is another outstanding celebrity who has taken the time to work hard alongside UNICEF for over 9 years, with more than large donations including raising funds for vaccination efforts and disease treatment.
