A short but powerful exchange between the police and a concerned citizen has warmed the hearts of netizens.
On his Facebook page, author Geul Bae Woo uploaded photos titled 'To those who stand by in front of school violence.' Featuring his written thoughts, he directly addressed bystanders who elect to do nothing when confronted with instances of school violence. "If you watched a friend's pain and understood them, that means you can help them out," the signs read in a plea to not ignore school violence.
As another method of reaching out for help from authority figures, Geul Bae Woo also tagged the Seoul Police Department in the post, asking them "Reply please, Seoul Police Department."
His efforts were not in vain, as the Seoul Police Department saw his message and responded back. "The Seoul Police Department is replying back to Geul Bae Woo," they posted on their on Facebook page. They also reached out to encourage more proactive actions from bystanders with a message that read, "Don't give up. Let's all lend our strength to each other and do this." To directly let Geul Bae Woo know of their gratitude for his efforts, they commented on one of his photos, "Thank you for your good-hearted opinion."
Netizens responded to this exchange with comments such as "Geul Bae Woo moves such people to action," "He's the type of person I like," and "He's a perfect person."
