BH Entertainment confirmed the casting to TV Daily on May 6, and also added, "Lee Byung Hun's character name is Billy Rocks. Other than that, there are no more released details. From an overseas report, Lee Byung Hun's character is good with his hands and is bound to a slave contract."
The film is a remake of the popular 1960 film directed by John Sturges, and the remake will be released through MGM and Sony Pictures.
The 1960 'The Magnificent Seven' was about a group of 7 assassins/gunmen who protected a Mexican town from outlaws. But the remake is reported to center around a mining town that has been taken over by a gold baron. The film will also star Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, and Ethan Hawke to name a few.
Lee Byung Hun has been making a name for himself in Hollywood with big roles in both 'G.I Joe' films, 'RED 2', and in the upcoming 'Terminator Genisys'.

'The Magnificent Seven' is scheduled for a January 2017 release in the U.S., so it will be a little while before we see Lee Byung Hun as Billy Rocks.
Congratulations to the actor for nabbing yet another meaty role in what looks to be a blockbuster hit!
