Netizens are agape at another story of sexual abuse. Back on March 10, the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency revealed that a 16-year-old high school student 'A' attempted suicide due to her memories of being repeatedly raped by her biological father and older brother.
According to 'A,' her father first began to sexually abuse her when she was a second year in elementary school. Her mother was unaware of the abuse and 'A' was unable to tell her. Two years later, her parents got a divorce and her mother left the household. The abuse worsened; every time 'A's father would rape her, 'A' said that her older brother would follow suit and rape her as well. The sexual abuse carried on for six years until 'A' was a second year in middle school.
It wasn't until November 2014 that 'A' was finally able to tell someone about her past. 'A' confided in her high school counselor, and shortly afterwards, she left her house and started residing under the care of the Korean Crime Victim Support Center while the police investigated her family.
However, on March 9, the support center called the police, reporting 'A' missing. Two police officers found her standing in the middle of the Mapo Bridge during the search. 'A' reportedly said to the police officers, "My father raped me, so I'm going to commit suicide." The officers were able to rescue her before she could commit to her decision.
'A's case was kept under wraps from the public until now. Gyeonggi Police representatives have announced their current status in their investigations, saying, "'A' refused to cooperate with investigations at first, but through her mother's persuasion, she has given her statement. At this point, we only have the victim's testimony; we will investigate 'A's father and brother quickly, and if they are charged [with sexual abuse], then we will deal with them strictly."
Netizens' top comments include: "What, these crazy bastards. I'm so angry so I'm leaving a comment. How can a biological father and biological brother do this kind of thing!!!" "The police are still investigating but the reporter just wrote up the story; still, I have decided that the father and brother are rapists keke. And yet there are people arguing that they're innocent 'til proven guilty keke. The commenters on Nate are especially getting angrier and angrier keke," and, "The mom is also someone who left her daughter and left the house. What an irresponsible household."
