Kyuhyun recently talked about their 60 room guest house before on 'Radio Star', and it seems this is the same guest house that has been found to be in violation of some regulations.
According to the Seoul police, the M guest house has been receiving guests without applying for a license that permits them to run the building as a type of 'homestay' lodging facility. Mr. Cho only applied for a permit for one floor in the 6-story building to be used for lodging purposes, and said the other floors were used only as study rooms or accommodations that students use. However, the police have found that all the floors, besides the parking lot on the first floor and the cafe on one floor, were being used for 'homestay' style lodging.
This type of violation usually results in a fine of 10 million KRW (~10,000 USD) or less, or a jail sentence of 1 year or less, depending on the severity of the violation.
Regarding the news, a rep from SM Entertainment told the media, "Because it was the first business that Kyuhyun's father tried his hand at, he did not clearly understand the regulations, and if there is anything that is a problem, he will immediately fix it."
With the Hallyu boom and more foreign tourists coming to visit Korea, various lodging accommodations have been sprouting up, and it seems Kyuhyun's father did not realize there are different regulations depending on whether it's a small scale or large scale guest house.
